On Monday night as I walked to my St John meeting, it started to come down quite a bit and by the time I arrived, Phil, who takes the meetings, told me that we were going to be cutting it short as the snow was coming down heavier and he didnt want people to get stuck in it. We had a very short talk and then left. I got a lift into town and by the time I got to the bus stop, it was coming down even heavier. It carried on getting heavier and I went to Bart's place for dinner.

After dinner, I decided to go out in his little garden and have a play in the snow. There was a nice thick layer on the ground so I was able to make a snow angel and start building a snowman...althought I didnt get too far and ended up with just a big lump...so I decided to go inside as I was wet and cold.

The next day there was still thick snow all over the ground and on my way to work, it started coming down very heavy again. It was so beautiful!! This carried on for 4 days, on and off and they say we could be getting a bit more tomorrow, although I think it could just miss us here.

I am suffereing the consequences of having a good time in the snow now though, I have a nasty cold, but it was all worth it!!

Enjoy the pictures!!nuttyleehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16304826381041483260noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1486123519757653221.post-58827227206175456112009-02-02T14:16:00.003+00:002009-02-02T14:45:47.766+00:00Back to WorkHello everyone,

Things are starting to settle down here, I have a job with a Call Centre company who work on behalf of Sky (Famous for their TV). I spent the whole of last week doing training and am starting tommorrow (Tuesday) on what's called the 'Grad Bay'. While we there, we will be taking live calls but with lots of coaches and help around us if we need it. The kinds of calls we would be taking are from existing customers only wanting to upgrade or add additional products, etc. So no phoning people trying to sell them stuff. We will be in Grad Bay for a week and then we will go to the floor and join the rest of the teams. Training was alot of fun, there were 15 of us in the group and it was a mixture of total newbies and those who have done call centre work before. It was alot to take in, having to learn the systems they use and of course, learn all about Sky products and services. The office is a bit out of the way in a big business park, but a free company bus runs from the city centre to the business park, so that makes it very easy for me as I catch a bus from my road straight to the city centre. It's my first time working in an office, so it is very different and takes getting used to. I will be working shifts over 7 days totalling 38-40 hours a week and am looking forward to seeing the kinds of shifts I'm going to get. This week I have two 10 and a half hour shifts, one 10 hour shift and two 4 hour shifts, with today (Monday) and Sunday off.

The other good news is that I also got offered a job at a leisure centre, I actually got the call from them the same day I found out when I would be starting at the call centre. This is a council run leisure centre in north cardiff, pretty close to the business park, except hard to get to as a short trip on the motorway seperates them...and no busses run there. This job is on a casual basis as a centre assistant, so I will only be working there when I have hours to spare and there are shifts available. Just waiting for some paperwork to come back from there and then I can do a bit of training with them and take a few shifts.

The other thing I've started is volunteering with St John Ambulance. I have been to 2 meetings so far and started a Medical Gas Administration Course in the previous meeting which will run for the next 5 weeks. I am also waiting for paperwork to come back with this, and once all is clear, I can put my name down to cover some events, like football and rugby matches as well as road races and concerts. I have all the qualifications behind me so this will be a great way to make sure all my first aid skills and knowledge dont go to waste. I'm really excited about it and hope that I can still do it along with the 2 jobs. The meetings are only once a week, every Monday from 7:30pm-9:30pm.

Other than all that, not much else has been going on. There has been heavy snow warnings all over the UK since the weekend, and in London, there was ALOT of snow. The weather forecast still says the storm is moving westerly, so we will still get it...I am hoping so anyway!! Its bitterly cold, 1 degree with a cold wintery wind and it's no fun if there isnt snow to accompany that. Earlier on, we had snow flurries. It was so pretty, little white flakes dancing all over the place. They reckon the rest of today and tonight going into tomorrow will be heavier, but I'm not getting my hopes up just yet. I'l believe it when I see it, it would be great if I woke up tomorrow with a nice layer of snow on the ground!!!

I need to go do some shopping so I better be off before it gets even colder and darker.

Keep all your fingers crossed for some snow :)

Tadanuttyleehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16304826381041483260noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1486123519757653221.post-36525594431962948222009-01-07T17:21:00.004+00:002009-01-07T20:17:47.219+00:00September, October, November and DecemberHellooooooooo!!!

Yes, It's been almost 5 months since I last wrote anything on here!! I've always been meaning to, but then I never got around to actually doing it. So much has happened in the last few months and hopefully I can fill you all in about some of the things I have been up to. (Well the ones I can remember anyway).

One day In September I had 2 days after the weekend off from work, and I was in Cardiff with Bart, so he took 2 days off too and we went to Bristol for a day. This was the first time for both of us being there, so we were much like tourists. He even had a backpack with water and some munchies in it!! We took the train there and set off to find the SS Great Britain- the worlds first steam powered cruise liner- built by that Brunel guy. It was a nice walk along the river to the dry dock where the ship was and once we got there, we bought our tickets and had a full tour around the ship. It was really amazing to see the inside, you could walk freely around and go into all the rooms and see the cabins, etc. They were absolutely tiny and it's hard to imagine trying to sleep and be comfortable in them. We got given audio guides and you could choose between 3 different points of view while you explored- First Class, Lower Class and Architects. I did the 2 classes and it was amazing to hear the huge differences they had, in every single part of their journey. I cant remember the specifics, but it was quite shocking to hear. Anyway, after the long tour, we took a boat trip along the river into the city centre and had a look around there and found somewhere to get something to eat as we were both starving by that time. Later in the evening, we headed back on the train and got home and made mac and cheese for dinner!! Yummy!! We now have this often enough since we tried it for the first time, coz Bart really likes it, and of course, I LOVE it!

I dont remember anything exciting that happened in October, besides doing my Defibrillator Course. it was just a one day course and it was held at my centre. It was really short and pretty simple, but it was important that you made sure by the end of it, you were 100% sure you knew what you were doing. I passed that with no difficulty and became one of the few at work who are fully qualified. Other than that, work went on as normal and as usual nothing exciting happened at home...besides becoming more and more irritated with the housemates upstairs. It was around this time I made my final decision that I wanted to definately move out of London as my contract on my room was coming to an end in December, and I had decided it made sense to move to Cardiff.

Going into November, the SA couple who were living downstairs told me that they were moving out and back to SA so I was glad that I would be going soon too, because I would've gone crazy if I had to stay with the other 2. I had handed in my notice towards the very end of October and told everyone I was moving.
I had a few days leave still, so I took a day off to go out to a theme park called Thorpe Park with one of my old school friends, Michelle, before the park closed for the winter. We met in the morning, and caught the train there. It was a very dull day, but dry at least and all the way both of us were well excited to be going!! We got there and saw how dead it was, less than 60 people visiting the park I would guess, which meant absolutely no queueing for any of the rides, which was GREAT!! We started off with something small, because Michelle had never been on rides like that and then would progress onto the bigger ones. She skipped nearly all of them right away so I ended up going on them by myself while she took pictures. We got to the main rollercoaster and I begged her to come on, she had never been on a rollercoaster and it would've been such a shame to go all the way there and not go on her first one. She agreed and came along. It was a really fast, long and very loopy rollercoaster, the best I've been on!! She said she liked it, but wasn't going to go again, so I carried on exploring the park and going on all the rides I could, including 2 water rides where I was told I'd get a bit of a splash....only to find out their version of a bit of a splash is more like taking a shower. I was soaking wet and had to walk around with a wet jumper and very wet patches on my jeans for the rest of the afternoon. As the park was closing soon, I decided I had to go on the rollercoaster again, so I did, while Michelle carried on snapping away. This time, when I saw the photo that was taken while I was on the ride, I couldn't not buy it as it was too funny. I put it up in one of the slide shows.

The week before I was leaving work, we had our quaterly Open Day. This time it was just a Wig theme and there were plenty of different funky wigs lying around!! Being on the pool all day, we weren't really part of all the fun, until 2 of us got hold of disco type wigs and kept them on the pool for every time we went on break or other duties so we could wear them and be part of the fun. By the time my shift was finished, I hung around a little while and had photos with some of the other wigged people..it was really fun! The photos will be up in a slide show, but just to let you know the names of some of the people so you know who is who, here's just a little list and description.

Ray- Operations Manager- boss of the Duty Managers and does all Health and Safety things
Karen-Admin Manager
Sam- Duty Manager
Dave- Duty Manager (You will hear lots about him coz we good friends and he also moved
to Cardiff after me, he is Welsh origionally)
Jarin- Lifeguard and my good friend- she is also South African.
Danny- Fitness (Gym) Manager
James- New Duty Manager

My days at work started getting less and less and my friends at work started getting really sad I was going, which of course made me sad I was going too. But I knew it was something I had to do, because I could do much better for myself in Cardiff. It seemed I had started off something at work though, because 7 other people had also given in their notice and were leaving a little bit after me. 2 Duty Managers, all 3 full time membership guys , 2 lifeguards and 1 gym guy. Was quite a sad time there with everyone leaving, but also exciting for the others because it's always fun when you get new staff. I had leaving drinks with my friends the night before I was moving, which ended up being the night after I worked my last shift as well. It was a really fun night and I got a little bit drunk, but made sure I sobered up a little by the time I had to leave to get the last train home. Check out the pics.

The next morning, at around 9am, Bart came to London to pick me and all my things up and we headed off for Cardiff. I had been franticly worrying the night before that my things wouldn't fit in his car, but he assured me they would..and they did! We got back to Cardiff later in the afternoon and chilled out for the day. I had found a flat on a previous weekend when I was in Cardiff and could only move in on the 11th of December so I had to stay with Bart for 3 weeks. It was really great and was such a nice thing to see him everyday compared to only seeing him every 2 weeks. While I was home during the day, I was looking and applying for jobs online, going shopping for food we needed, etc and decided I was gonna clean his house. I ended up cleaning his kitchen and bathroom and hoovered his whole place. His bathroom looked completly different, it was all shiney!!! He was even shocked when he got home!! At other times during those 3 weeks, I ironed some work shirts for him, did laundry and cooked or prepared dinner for when he got home....quite shocking to hear innit? Felt like a housewife just about!!

Anyway, the time came for me to move into my place, and it was very exciting. The place is great and I have soooo much space. I spent a few days organising things and unpacking but once it was done, I culd focus again on getting a job. By this time I had been to a few interviews but hadnt been successful yet. Nothing in my industry was coming up and I was applying for things I didn't really have experience in, and kinda just hoping someone would take a chance....but during this time, with so many people looking for jobs, you are up against lots for the same job. I got told very often at interviews that they had alot of applicants to interview!
As it was gettting closer to Christmas, it started getting much colder and I had to start wearing gloves, boots, my scarf and at least 2 jumpers or jackets while I was out and about. Bart was on leave from the week of Christmas until the 5th of January so we spend that whole time at his place just about. We went to the Winter Wonderland in the city centre and went Ice Skating. I had been begging since last year to go, and Bart had never skated before, so this time we finally went. It was quite funny to see him doing it, but he picked it up pretty fast and really enjoyed it. So much so, that he said he wanted to go again!! I was very glad to hear that, because skating has always been one of my favourite things to do.

On Christmas Eve, we spent the night at my place, opened pressies later in the evening and had a nice dinner. He bought me a DVD player, a DVD and a big cuddly shark toy I had spotted once and said how cute it was. I got him a DVD, a James Bond Book and a new Espresso Coffee pot thing( He loves his espresso!!) On Christmas Day we went back to his place where we started cooking the gammon we had bought. He hadn't ever had gammon and I had told him how much I loved it always at Christmas, so we waited in anticipation to see how it would turn out. And, when we finally got to eat it, it was DELICIOUS!! We had it with mashed potato which was very yummy as well. Between Christmas and New Year, we went skating again and just relaxed at home and did some shopping while the sales were on. For New year, we went to a fireworks show that was held at the castle. It was over really early, at like 7:40pm so we headed home because Bart wasn't feeling well. ( I forgot to mention, he had been sick with a nasty cold for 3 weeks before this) We just watched tv at home and then had some sparkling wine when it hit midnight and watched the fireworks in London. Not sure if anyone saw them on telly, but they were really awesome to watch, wish I had been there in the crowds!!

Whew, this has been alot to type and I'm sure some of you, if not all, must be tired of reading by now, so I will wrap it up. I'm still looking for a job, and continue to hope that something comes up soon. I'm really enjoying my flat and just wish I had more visitors because its so empty with just me in it. Happy New Year to everyone and I hope that I get to see you in 2009.

Will write again soon, enjoy the pictures and take care!!

Tired fingers signing out...nuttyleehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16304826381041483260noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1486123519757653221.post-11722944517358397232008-08-14T13:04:00.006+01:002008-08-14T14:33:25.505+01:00Cant think of a title........Hiya,

To start where I left off, my weekend in Cardiff for Bart's Birthday was really nice. We went to that funfare on the Saturday and it was really fun. The rides were really exciting..one was so scary it made me feel uncomfortable even. I had thoughts the whole time that I was going to fall out and splatter on the ground below. On the Sunday night, I took him to an Italian Restuarant for his Birthday. He had a spicy pasta and I just had a pizza, much to his disgust, haha. He even said how can you come to an italian restuarant and just have a pizza....but, that's all I felt like at the time to be honest. Wasn't really in the mood for pasta. After we got home, once it had hit 12am...I brought out my surprise birthday cake I had bought him, full of candles spelling "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" . He was really surprised and couldn't believe I had hidden the cake almost all weekend. After he blew out the candles, I went and brought out his pressies. He got a T shirt, a Darth Vadar bobble head (He loves Star Wars) and a funny Farting Champion medal thing. This past weekend in Cardiff was pretty quiet, we didnt get up to much as the weather wasn't too good. I had said earlier in the week how much I was missing moms mac and cheese so Bart said we would make it on the weekend. On Saturday night, he decided we were going to attempt to make it, so we went shopping for some things and got home to try it. Everything went to plan and by the time the sauce was done, it was looking pretty much the same as moms sauce. And once it was served, it looked like moms mac and cheese too. As for the taste, well it was good, but the cheese taste wasn't quite the same, which was to be expected as Mature cheddar cheese is different here than the type we get back home. But all in all, it was a very good meal!! :)

Nothing too exciting going on at work, still the summer timetable, so always lots of naughty kids to kick out the pool every other day. I've finally been booked on my Defib course, so that will be on the 14th of October at my centre, so that should be cool.

At the moment, am really enjoying watching the Olympics, well, the little I do get to see anyway. Its so different everything being from a British point of view, so I didnt get to see any South Africans really, besides a few swimmers. But, we are pretty much nowhere at these games anyway so I guess I didnt miss much.

I put up the newest pictures I have from a few weekends in Cardiff....Enjoy!!

Anyway, time to go enjoy the sun on my day off...while it lasts! Will write again soon.nuttyleehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16304826381041483260noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1486123519757653221.post-67770345909146204482008-07-30T16:03:00.002+01:002008-07-30T16:25:39.513+01:00UpdateEllo everybody,

Just an update with a few bits of news...

Firstly, work, it's going well, getting lots of new staff at the moment and theres been 2 lifeguard courses held at our centre in the past 3 weeks. Its always interesting to see the newbies while they are on the course..and laugh at the way they do things..yes of course, I was once in their spot and im sure I was laughed at...but its just too funny watching them. Working alot of early shifts more than other shifts these days, so I'm up at 4 45am most mornings!! I bet you all dont believe it ;)

Today I had my first pool rescue. There was a group of local kids having a session in the pool and a few couldnt swim. While the teacher was talking to them about things, 2 of them jumped in the deep end...and one couldnt swim..he panicked right away, realising how deep it was and his friend tried to help him, but just made it worse because he pushed him under water....this of course all took a few seconds...I had seen it all, and had to jump in, bring him to the surface and tow him to the side of the pool. He was ok after it all, but is gonna go to the doc for a routine check up after a near drowning as water in the lungs can lead to secondary drowning.
It was all very fast and quite scary, but it showed me just how important my job really is.

Last weekend in Cardiff, Bart and I went to the Bay to see a live show. It was pretty good, lots of music, dancing, kinda acrobatic stuff, fireworks and foam! I will put the pics up as soon as I get them from Bart. Am off to Cardiff again this weekend as it's Barts Birthday on Monday so I am taking him to dinner one of the nights. This weekend there will also be the UK's largest travelling fare in the city so we prolly gonna go to that too. Cant wait!!

Last week I played my first game of softball since last season...and finally got my team shirt and nicname....I got named "Foo-Foo". They say its a cute name for someone young so thats why they chose it, but when i googled it, I found out it was Miss Piggys poodle dog....hmmmmm ??? LOL....I will put pics of the shirt up for you all to see soon. It was great to play again, i sure had missed it. Hopefully i will be able to play the last game of the season next week or the week after..not sure.

The weather here has been amazing the last week and a half. Was up to 30.9 C a few days ago, and is about 25 and above most other days. Hopefully its gonna carry on and be a good summer.

Otherwise, not much else happening that I can think of. Im really looking forward to Dad coming over and seeing him and going travelling down the coast with him at the end of August. :)

Hope everyone is well, as always, miss u all.

Take care and will write again soon.

XXnuttyleehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16304826381041483260noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1486123519757653221.post-91085840799597361342008-07-03T17:50:00.003+01:002008-07-03T18:38:24.773+01:001 Year AnniversaryWell the day has come..and very quickly I might add. Today marked 1 year since I left home and it was filled with mixed emotions. For the most part of the day, I was at work, so I was busy and not really thinking about things. But, of course when I got home in the afternoon, I was able to think of how I was really feeling about everything. All I can say is, I'm glad and very gratefull I was given the opportunity to move over here and experience life for myself. Times have been very hard but also very good. I've learnt more than I could even explain about myself and about things in general and have developed a greater deal of confidence. I know that things will start looking better and better as time goes by, and certain decisions and moves are made and I'm excited about that. There is just so much opportunity here, in so many ways and I'm dying to grab them.

Sometime in the near future, I want to move out of London, not too far, but far enough out where things are not so expensive. Living in London is really expensive as everyone probably knows/has heard, its just crazy. Saving money anywhere I can is always on my mind as I want to be able to travel around the country every now and then and make little trips to places....and of course...to save up so I can visit SA!!!

Probably the thing most likely to change first is my job. I really like it, the people, the members (well, some) and the place....and I've become sooooo comfortable there, basically my second home...but the problems are it's just too far away from where I am living and I do not get paid enough to live comfortably or to save anything each month. So, I'm looking for a new job at the moment, but being a little bit choosy with it...there's a specific leisure centre I wanna work at, which is 15 minutes on the bus away from my house, so it's just a matter of waiting for a vacancy to come up. In the mean time, I'm spending as much time learning different things from different departments at my current job. Am half way through a First Aid at Work course...and gonna go on a Defibrillator course soon too. I have been having mini lessons from one of the Duty Managers on how things work in the plant room. Things like how the pumps work, how to do the pool tests, where chemicals go..and get stored, etc. I think the more I can learn now, the more I can take to any new job I get and could possibly apply for something higher than a lifeguard eventually.

Another anniversary coming up soon is the 1 year anniversary for Bart and I. We met at the end of August last year and I've been going there almost every 2, sometimes 3 weeks since. Its amazing, considering the first few times I went there, I never knew each time if there would be a next..but it all worked and now things are going well. I owe alot of me being able to survive over here to him. He has been my support over here and has heard all my moans and worries and of course shared my excitement and happiness. Being able to go away to Wales and get away from London and being able to do things with him and see places, etc has been the biggest help and is what has led to me lasting. Knowing how I've felt at times in the last year, I really think without his support I would've crumbled and just wanted to give up and go home. Of course, I'm not saying he is my only support, my family has been very supportive too, but it's different when that support is 1000's of miles away.

I put a few pictures on my RANDOM PICS slide show, some old ones I hadn't put up all the way back in March when we had the snow...and then a few newer ones. A couple of my room with my duvet from home after I got back from my SA holiday. It really makes a difference having it on, makes my room feel alot more homely and feel like its mine, rather than some random room im sleeping in.

Anyway, thanks to everyone for their support over the last year and for the support to come. Love u all and miss u more each day. And of course, thanks for reading, all your comments and of course...putting up with my lack of news sometimes. :)

XoxoXoxoXnuttyleehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16304826381041483260noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1486123519757653221.post-76475363771948535442008-06-30T22:29:00.006+01:002008-06-30T22:52:28.035+01:00Party in the Park

Helloooooooo,

Just wanted to put a few pics up here from the party in the park this past weekend. A few of us from work went to Hyde Park on Saturday to celebrate one of our workmates birthday. I only went for about an hour because im sick with the flu at the moment so needed to get home and rest for work the following day.

In these pics are our new Duty Manager David, Me, Hannah from the Hall team, Karen-Admin Manager (only in the bottom pic) and Ray-Operations Manager

It was a really nice sunny day...and we have been having many lately so I hope its going to be a very nice summer. Im off on a First Aid course from tommorrow and am looking forward to it. I always find courses like this fun.

Besides that, not much else has been going on. Been to Cardiff a few times lately of course, and Bart really liked all his pressies from SA. Talking about pressies....Bart bought, along with some of the birthday money I got from my parents, a Nintendo DS for me along with a few games to get me started for my birthday. The game Brain Training is really fun and something I play everyday on the way to and from work. You do maths, reading and memory type challenges to keep your brain healthy and every now and then you can do a brain age check to see how old your brain is...the best possible score is 20...and so far, my score is 26, woohoo!! LOL.

Well, with my 1 year anniversary of leaving home just 3 days away, look out for my next post then, should be a long-ish one. :)

Much love to you all.

XOX

nuttyleehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16304826381041483260noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1486123519757653221.post-87532392516332942122008-05-19T18:13:00.002+01:002008-05-19T18:33:55.786+01:00Just an UpdateHello everyone,

Firstly, sorry, it has been a while since my last post. But, I was home in South Africa, so you all know what I was up to, so you havent missed much.

Well, I have been back a week already. My flight back was ok, had a pretty nice seat so was able to sleep a bit more than usual. Upon arriving in London, I got throught Passport Control very quickly as they dont need to ask any questions like they always do. Once I picked up my bags, it was just a short wait for a bus and then 30 mins till I got home. Didnt do much for the rest of the weekend, it was very hot, got up to 27C on the Sunday, so all I did was go out and buy a fan for my room!

Back to work on that Monday...it was good to see everyone, well most people anyway. As for the rest of the week, was just the usual stuff, nothing really exciting happened. On Friday, I left to go to Cardiff for the weekend and just got back from there yesterday.

Was a nice relaxing weekend. On saturday was FA Cup Final Day, first time Cardiff City were in it in 81 years, so it was a huge occasion. Bart and I went down to the bay where they had put up a huge screen, and we watched the game there. Unfortunately cardiff lost 1-0 so there were no huge celebrations afterwards, so we just headed home. On Sunday, we slept in a bit, then later in the afternoon, went swimming. Came home, had very yummy dinner and then had to rush to the bus station for my 7pm bus.

Dreading work tomoro of all days, only because i have the people i like least at work on my shift with me. But I'm going to try be a zombie and just ignore them all day. Then might go out for a birthday drink with a friend. Otherwise, just a quiet day.

Will write again soon when I have more to say, Miss all my family already!!! But it was so nice seeing all of u.

Lots of love. XOXOnuttyleehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16304826381041483260noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1486123519757653221.post-73694212385981218892008-03-22T18:40:00.002+00:002008-03-22T18:55:59.390+00:00Dont mess with a lane ropeOh dear, how could I forget the swimming story!! Thanks mom!!

Well, 2 or 3 weeks ago, we had a swimming gala held at our centre. One of the schools who use our pool for their swimming lessons had booked the large pool for a few hours, to have their school gala. So as lifeguards, we had a few things to set up for this event.

Everything had been running smoothly, we had done everything we needed to do, just needed to put one last lane rope in the middle of the pool. All the kiddies were there sitting on the poolside, all the parents sitting on the balcony chairs, the timers and announcers waiting and setting up last minute things....and me, and my manager Nicole, finishing things off with the last lane rope. So she is at the deep end, im at the shallow end, both holding a side of the lane rope..and pulling it across, a task i have done many times before without problems.

Its quite heavy, and takes a fair amount of pulling...so we both pull in turn, slowly moving it along the water, to the middle of the pool....when Nicole pulled a bit too much from her side. Well you can guess what happened, I fell in wearing my trousers, trainers, undershirt and golf shirt as well as having my radio in my pocket. The worst bit, was as I landed in the water, i just heard an explosion of laughter! I tried to stand up, but my trainers were slipping on the bottom of the pool. Eventually I got on my feet and looked towards my manager laughing, her mouth was on the floor, she couldnt believe what had just happened. I hooked the lane rope in, swam over the the steps and climbed out, still being deafened by the laughs from everyone.

She came over to me and kept saying she was sorry, but I was laughing so much and said not to worry, she gave me a while off the pool to go get changed, luckily I had shorts and my flip flops in my locker, so was able to put those on, and just wear my work fleece jumper on my top half.

My manager STILL feels bad to this day, but it really was so funny. After I was changed, and back on poolside, watching the gala...I had many parents and teachers asking me if I wanted another swim, or If i do that often, etc etc. Too funny!

Giggling like mad thinking about it now...nuttyleehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16304826381041483260noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1486123519757653221.post-26794020356416061892008-03-22T17:34:00.003+00:002008-03-22T18:11:06.906+00:00My Snowy EasterOMG!!! (Oh My Goodness-for those who dont know) IT SNOWED TODAY!!!!

This week has been very busy, worked early shifts all week, including Good Friday and today, although today I was sent home sick at 11 30am. Its been very chilly the last few days, this morning in particular, extremely cold.....that I had to wear 4 layers!! Yeah, thats not like me at all, is it!! Since January, its been predicted to snow in London 3 times....and on 2 occasions I got my hopes up....and nothing came. So when they predicted snow for the Easter weekend, I was like yeah whatever and didnt think anything of it. Well, on my way home from work on the train, I noticed that it had started lightly snowing, just as I was approaching my station. I couldnt believe it, managed to send a text about it, but no sooner had the text been sent, it had stopped. I thought, you must be kidding me....that better not be it!

I got home, and was just chilling and lying in bed, still feeling nauseas, when I saw out my window it was falling again, this time, alot more. Not really snow as such, just lil icy balls, lots of them......but hey, its the closest thing to snow I'l get, so im calling it snow. That lasted about 5 minutes, then it stopped again. And once again about 30 minutes later, it happened again. This time was a whole lot more, and I leant outside my window, snapping pics of this. I decided I could not pass up the opportunity to go walk in it, so I went to the store just around the corner, and took some pics outside. It was great! So pretty!

I got back home, and inside, hands frozen and got up to my room. Put my food down and looked outside again, and this time, snow was falling, real snow flakes.....so I now can say, it did snow in London today. That lasted about 10 minutes, then stopped and the sun came out, but it is still very icy cold outside. I have my window open of course, so thats how i know. HAHA.

I have a funny story to share, it happened a few weeks ago already, but haven't managed to write about it, although I told my parents and Grant, they said it was too funny not to share with everyone else. So here goes:

A few weeks ago, late one night while I was asleep, I dont even know the time anymore but we're talking like after midnight, I was woken up by my bed shaking and hearing the door rattling. This rattling is a familiar sound if I have my window open and dont put somethin under the door to stop the wind from making it rattle. But the bed shaking threw me...and I woke up thinking...damn, its windy! I lay in bed a bit puzzled and thought, nooo, wind cant make my bed shake like that, maybe i was dreaming and shaking in my sleep or something....so...i decide, best way to test that theory is to try re-create the shaking. So, i started shaking myself while lying in bed, to try get the same feeling I had experienced minutes before. It didnt work, it wasnt the same. Me shaking myself, didnt make the headboard rattle like it did the time when i was woken up....I just thought oh well and went back to sleep, forgetting all about it the next day at work....untill....I was on the tube on the way home, when I read int he newspaper about an earthquake in the UK, and that tremors had been felt last night in London. I was like OMG thats wot it was!!!!! Couldnt beleive it...scary!!

On a general note, work is going well still, we have 4 new lifeguards and are still getting 1 or 2 more, as a few left in the last few weeks. They all seem nice, one young sweet guy, one weird crazy guy, one overly shy guy, and one of the swimming teachers who works at our centre already, with the swimming company. They fit in well, and we have them off to a good start, by picking up the good habits, and not the bad. Well, thats because, the bad habits left with those lifeguard that left, sorry to say. Its always just a few people who dont care about rules and regulations and make things difficult for others. But there are gone now, so things are alot better. The General Manager (GM) has commented on many occasions on the improved standard of lifeguarding and has commended me on being the person that has achieved this. In our full staff meeting 2 weeks ago, I was awarded a bottle of wine as a thanks and a well done, for my standards and committment. I felt really pleased and proud of myself. Its really a great place to work, and that enthusiasm and passion for the people and the job shows in the things I do within the centre.

I cannot wait for April to come, 4 weeks untill I come to SA....wooooooohoooooooooooooo!!!!!!
I have 3 weeks off work, so lots of time to spend with family and friends!! And of course, to just chill out at home and enjoy all those things I (wrongly) thought I could go without.

I have FINALLY got photos I took from the last few months off of my mobile, I wasnt able to before but finally got them off, so i put them in a new slide show. Have a look...

Best be going now, gonna eat the rest of my pooh bear easter bear I got from Bart :)

Happy Easter to everyone, I hope you all have a great day!

Oh and lastly, SEE YOU SOON!!! (It sure does feel great to say that)
nuttyleehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16304826381041483260noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1486123519757653221.post-29152117137358157272008-02-07T22:24:00.000+00:002008-02-07T23:00:01.857+00:00Night Out with FriendsOnce again, its been a while!!

Have just been busy working, working and more working. Its going really well, enjoying it and absolutely love seeing and being with the people I work with. My 3 month review is coming up this month, time has just gone by so quickly!! Once Iv had my review, I will get a special membership card which gives me highest membership and access to any of the Cannons health Clubs in the country. I also get one for a friend or family member if I wish to have one. Pity there are no Cannons Clubs in Wales!!

On the 26th of January, 6 of us from work (4 lifeguards, 2 gym guys) went out for the night as one of the lifeguards, Damiano, is going back to Italy, so it was a little leaving dinner that was organised. We went to an Italian Pizzeria in Fulham where Damiano used to work, a very nice, quiet place with great food!! We all met up pretty late, as some were working that night. Once we got there, we had a few drinks and had some bread. I was introduced to the tradition of eating the bread dipped in Olive Oil and Balsamic Vinegar. I was hesitant to try it, but Tony(Gym guy) sitting next to me kinda made me....haha. Im glad he did, because it was kinda good. We then all ordered our food, we all decided on pizza's, and they bring them as metre long pizza's with different 25cm sections as opposed to individual pizza's, very cool! I had ordered a parma ham, mozzarella and fresh rocket pizza, it was delicious!! But also tried some of the others as we all had bits of each others. We didnt manage to even finish it all, we were all so full eventually. After a little while, we had dessert. I had chocolate mousse and some of Tony's tiramisu. Again, I had said no thanks to it coz it had coffee or somethin in it, and he made me try it again, saying you could hardly taste it, so I did and it was amazingly yummy!!!! I was pretty chuffed wif meself for having tried the bread, the pizza with the rocket and the tiramisu. We all just chatted for a while afterwards and then it was going on 12am so we had to go.

We said goodbye to the others and I left with Sanaz(Lifeguard) and Saeed(Gym guy, ex-lifeguard), they are brother and sister from Iran. We were all going on the same bus, just to different tube stations. Along the way, one of their friends happened to be around, so he stopped and picked us up at one stop and he drove me to the station I needed to be at. Sanaz and Saeed were going out to a club for their cousins party, so they dropped me off at the station and then left for that. Well, as I got to the station, the man was closing the gates, I had missed the last train!!! Stuck in Central London at 1am, wondering hoe to get home, especially because I live so far out of Central London. So I called Saeed and told him the situation and they came back to fetch me. They were gonne be staying at their uncles house in Kensington that night so they said they would drop me off at the house and I could spend the night and go home the next day. The house was amazing, sooo huge!! I felt soooooo posh to be staying there, haha.

The next morning, when I left, I walked outside and had no idea where I was as when we got there, I was too busy chatting and didnt see where I was, so I had to google to postcode on google maps to see where I was and what the closest station was. Eventually I got home after a very long, fun night. We took a few pics at the restuarant, so check under Work Pics.

Besides that, not been out much. Spend alot of time at work, even when finished my shift, I stay there and swim and chat to people or go to the gym. Saeed or Tony are going to do a program for me, so will start that as soon as it gets done.

This past weekend, I was in Cardiff again and we finally went to the new pool that opened there. Its a brand new centre with an Olympic sized pool(50m) and a seperate leisure pool, with 4 slides and a lazy river and lots other fun things like you would find in a waterpark....like the old waterworld. We swam a few laps in the big pool, then went on to the other pool. We had to queue a while to go on the slides but they were fun once we went on them eventually. Otherwise just swam about and relaxed in the pool for 2 hours or so. It was very busy, so couldnt do much else. We went back to the big pool after a while to swim a few more laps, and then back to leisure pool for a little bit more and then went home, to watch Six Nations rugby.......to see Wales beat England.....HAHAHA!!!

Working this weekend, so I have a day off tomoro. :)

Will definately make more of an effort to update this every week. 11 more weeks till i come home to visit, I cannot wait!!!!!!! Miss you all soooooooo much.nuttyleehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16304826381041483260noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1486123519757653221.post-39285144486574673292007-12-29T23:37:00.000+00:002007-12-30T00:27:53.321+00:00Another update...It has been a while!!!

Firstly, the new place.....Its awesome to finally be on my own, being able to have privacy, place for my things and being able to hang my clothes up is so great, something I missed terribly. The house is very quiet, everyone keeps to themselves. There are 5 of us (currently 4 coz one girl is never around) in the house, a couple downstairs, and then another girl upstairs in a single room. All of us share the kitchen, but we each have our own space in there somewhere as well as shelves in fridge/freezer etc. Then upstairs, just us girls upstiars share the bathroom and toilet as the couple have their own downstairs. My room is a double room, with a double bed, desk and tv and loads of cupboard space...only coz i dont own enuf things to fill them up, haha!! Its a very cosy room, overlooking the back garden. Will post some pictures of it in my slideshow soon, so keep coming back to check.

Secondly, the job......Work is going well, been there 6 weeks now, cant belive how fast its gone, sure does feel like I have been there for months. Get along with everyone there, have lotsa laughs with some and enjoy going to work everyday. Have got to know the regular members too, so its nice to have a chat with them when I see them. Its been quiet lately, coz of Christmas, but in the new year, its going to be VERY busy. We had our full team meeting a week or so back and everyone is pretty much pleased in the centre as the targets for 2007 were reached and the centre did very well.

As for other things....well Iv been to Cardiff often as always in the last month or so to see Bart. Usually go every 2 or 3 weeks. And as always, we have a great time. Its just so nice to have someone to see and spend time with, and he sure does spoil me!!! A few weeks ago, he came to London for a day on business so we met up that night and had a walk around the Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park, was -2 degrees that night, absolutely freezing!! We stood and wacthed people ice skating and had a walk around the stalls and stuff. Then in Cardiff the next time, we went to the Winter Wonderland there. Tickets for Ice Skating were sold out at the time, so we didnt get to go, but we went on the big wheel instead, again, absolutely freezing!! We both sat there shivering rather than enjoying the sights of Cardiff by night, it was crazy and so funny, he sat there laughing at me trying to talk with a frozen mouth. But afterwards, we went inside and had a nice cup of hot stuff.

I spent Christmas with him, got there on Christmas Eve and came back on the 27th. We had a very quiet Christmas Day, woke up around 11:00am after only getting to bed around 3am, watched some TV and just chilled out. Then later he started dinner. He cooked very nice salmon and a mix of crab meat, prawns and rice with sweet and sour sauce(that was full of carrots, red and green peppers). I only managed to eat the salmon...I tried the other bit, I just couldnt get my mind round it so couldnt stomach it. I am too fooking fussy!!! For Christmas, he gave me a Winnie the Pooh calender with very nice bright pictures and a very very cute Winnie the Pooh teddy.
On Boxing Day afternoon, we decided to join the madness of those out in their Sales mode and go shopping. It wasnt that busy really so we werent crushed in any stampedes. We bought a few things in a DVD store. The rest of the time there, was also just quiet, didnt do much, just watched DVDs and the Christmas specials of a few shows we both enjoy on TV.

Otherwise, nothing much else going on, slowly things are falling into place and Im able to relax alot more, trying to focus now on getting healthier, as the stress and worry of the last few months have taken their toll on me in a big way. But nothing to worry about :)

A huge thank you to my parents for supporting me in the ways that they have over the last months. It hasnt been easy, for either of us. But it just means so much that you've given me this chance to do all this and experience this. Love u both dearly!!

It has almost been 6 months since I left, I cannot believe it!!! I miss home and everyone so so much, its the only thing that kinda stops me in my tracks sometimes and makes me question whether I really wanna be here or not. And each time...I still cant answer myself. Its very very hard for me being away from everyone I love and missing out on things and seeing my little cousins grow up!!

I have the day off tomoro, so have a few things to do, like tidy my room!! And do a bit of shopping...so I better get to bed. I will put some pictures of things in my slideshow soon, so look out for them.

Missing u all, take care, xxxnuttyleehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16304826381041483260noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1486123519757653221.post-54549182850924194772007-12-22T19:40:00.000+00:002007-12-22T19:46:32.270+00:00Merry Christmas!!!!! Hope you all have a great Christmas. Tomoro morning I move into my own room in a house share in Northolt, North West London, within 45 mins from work. I cannot wait. Will be living in a double room, in a house with a couple downstairs and 2 other girls upstairs next to my room. We all share the large kitchen and just me and the 2 girls share the bathroom and toilet upstairs. My room is very nice sized, with lots of cupboard space in the built in cupboards, and a nice bay window looking outside. Will post pics as soon as i can.

As for other news, I have completed week 3 already at work. Its gone by so fast!!! Its really great and the people are awesome. I really love it. My lifeguard course went really well, the instructor Jon told the managers i was doing really well and one of the best on the course. So was nice to start work and all the managers knew who i was and that i had done well.

I have to go pack up some last things now, will write again, when i have more time.

Miss u all. xxxnuttyleehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16304826381041483260noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1486123519757653221.post-2092012910012771482007-11-01T19:34:00.000+00:002007-11-01T20:09:46.042+00:00Things are FINALLY looking good...Hello everyone,

Once again, its been a while since I posted anything here. Been up to quite a bit...

Firsty, I have secured a job. A leisure company is paying for me to do a Pool Lifeguard Course and when I have finished, I will be working for them as Recreation Assistant, doing mainly Pool Lifeguard duties, but also other general duties within the Leisure Centre and Health Spa. Its a great centre and the Spa is the oldest in London. The course is 5 days, split over 2 weeks. It begins on Monday (5 November). I am very excited and cant wait to do the course and then start working. I will be working full time, 40 hours, 5 days a week doing either early shifts (6h45am-2h45pm) or late shifts (2h30pm-10h30pm) and having to work one weekend every 2 or 3 weeks, but then getting a day during the week off.

Secondly, I have been to visit Bart in Wales again 2 weeks ago, the Rugby World Cup Final weekend. I wanted to be in England for the game, since it was England vs South Africa, but I didnt want to watch the game alone, so I decided it would be way better to watch it with Bart in Wales. Had a great weekend and went down the coast on the Sunday to The Mumbles just down the coast from Swansea. What an amazing sight everything was. Got some great photies with my phone camera as my digital camera wouldnt work. The sky that day was amazing, as you can see in the pictures. That night, we had another Casserole. Was even yummier than the first one.

Thirdly, now that I know I will be working, and what I will be earning, I have been looking for rooms to rent so I can finally have some space for myself and my things as well as get out of Janine's hair as recently, there has been quite a bit of conflict and talk between us. I have viewed 2 places so far, one was terrible, the other was ok, but it has a few downsides to it. Im just gonna keep looking, and something will come up soon.

Lastly, I was very stressed for a long time, and really felt it physically. Now that Iv had the chance to relax a bit knowing I do have a job starting and soon will have my own room somewhere I feel alot better within myself. There was a stage where everyday I questioned why I moved and why Im putting myself throught everything, especially alone. I have been to the cinema a few times as well as for random walks thru the city at nights, just to get out the house. My friend Mark has been a big help in taking me out and spending time with me, and having Bart in Wales is a great help too. Its a great change of pace going there, and its dirt cheap so it doesnt bring me any money stress.

Our time went back last weekend, so we are now 2 hours behind South Africa. Winter is creeping up on us, and I only have 2 jumpers and 1 pair of jeans!! In desperate need to go shopping or Im gonna freeze. Part of me cannot wait for Christmas because its just so beautiful here with everyone decorating and lighting up their houses and gardens, but then the other part of me wishes I could just skip the Holiday season. I have never been alone on Christmas and have always loved spending it with all my family, so this year is going to be very hard.

Anyway, all in all, things are looking lots better, and are slowly working their way up to me being happy, comfortable and settled. I am off tomoro morning to spend the weekend with Bart, he has had a bad week, so Im gonna go and cheer him up, the way he always did when things were bad for me. I get back on Sunday night.

I miss everyone and all my dogs very very much. Hope everyone is doing well.

Take care.

XoXoX

Oh, and by the way, I re-did my slide show. There are new pictures in there now, so have a look.nuttyleehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16304826381041483260noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1486123519757653221.post-21417021308508638712007-10-02T21:32:00.000+01:002007-10-02T22:05:49.022+01:00Update...Well.....heres my update for the last 2 weeks....not been in the mood to talk much..or type in this case...hence the lack of recent posts.

The rugby weekend in Cardiff was great. Started off on the Friday night at Barts place, we had pizza for dinner, a few pints of cider and watched the Boks thrash the English!! Then on Saturday, we went into the city. The atmosphere for the Wales vs Australia game was incredible and the city and all the pubs were jam-packed with people wearing red shirts and yellow shirts. Flags flying high and people cheering like mad. Me and Bart watched the game at a pub just up the road from where the game was-The Millenium Dome. At the pub I was denied alcohol bcoz I couldnt prove age!! Was so funny!!! After the game, we went back to the castle and went on a guided tour in the main part of the castle. The rooms are stunning and the art work is truely amazing. This time we were there on a beautiful day, so got some nice pictures-in my slide show.

On the Sunday, we drove down to Penarth, on the coast. We just walked along the muddy beach and on the Pier. It was miserable and starting to rain, so there wasnt much we could do there. We then drove to the Barrage in Cardiff Bay. Quite amazing! There is a 6 metre difference in the water level between the bay and the ocean so there are 3 locks that work to get boats in and out of the bay. Basically, they let the boat in and close the ocean side door behind, then open the bay side doors a little, letting the enclosure fill up with water. Then when the level is the same as that of the bay, they open the bay doors and the boat drives out and into the bay. And would work the same the other way round. Its very impressive to see.

I got back home on the Monday after a terribly long bus trip due to a bad accident on the M4. Took us 6 and a half hours to get back to London instead of the normal 3 and a half hours. i found out an old school friend, Kaylee, had arrived in London and would be there for the week, so made plans to meet up with her. We eventually did, and I showed her a few of the sights and some shops and then went to the London Dungeon. It was really nice, I had been there twice before 2 years ago, but they had 2 new parts to it so it was really cool. At the end, they have a ride in which u drop straight down as part of a "Death by Hanging" theme. Kaylee has the picture of us on that ride...our faces are very funny!

Nothing else interesting happened between then and now, same ol' job searching every day, been out with Mark a few times to the cinema, swimming at the leisure centre and the O2 Centre where we had dinner at Spur. We were supposed to go to a recording of a Sky TV football show, but we were late and didnt get in along with about 300 other people.

This past weekend, I went to visit Bart in Wales again. Its dirt cheap firstly, costs less to go there for a weekend than it does for me to stay in London on a weekend and secondly, its a great change of pace. Really enjoy spending time with him and seeing the sights and it takes lots of the stress away....and i have been feeling LOTS of that lately. This time, we relaxed alot more, only went out on Saturday into the city centre where we went Tenpin Bowling (I lost by 1 point!!!) and went to the "Doctor Who" exhibition. Doctor Who is filmed in Cardiff, so the exhibition is a very popular place, especially for the kids. Took some pictures of some of the different characters and aliens...they are in my slide show as well.

Otherwise, just enjoying some time on my own while Janine is on holiday in Bali. And of course, hunting for a job....

Hope everyone is well. Missing my family very much!!nuttyleehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16304826381041483260noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1486123519757653221.post-12368515546516022322007-09-14T02:56:00.001+01:002007-09-14T03:20:29.733+01:00Rugby, Rugby, Rugby this weekend...

Well, no news really. Been a quiet 2 weeks, especially since I had a very bad cold/flu which left me in bed miserable for a while. Time just flew by really. Looking forward to this weekend as I am going away again, to Wales again to visit Bart :)

I leave tomoro afternoon, and arrive at 17h40 in Cardiff, with just enough time for us to either: 1. Head to the store, get some munchies and then get home in time to watch the rugby game-South Africa vs England..or to 2. Head home to drop off bag and get changed, then head to the pub to watch the game there. Its gonna be great!! I have my Safrican shirt all ironed and ready to wear allllll day tomoro, LOL. Am sad, a lil, that I cant be watching the game with Mark in a London pub, but then again, I am glad too, I dont think I wanna put myself thru the pain of listening to all these english blokes crying and making excuses when we kick their asses. HEHEHEHE!

Saturday is also going to be a great day, Wales play Australia in Cardiff so the atmosphere in the city is going to be AWESOME!! I cant wait!! Pretty much a rugby filled weekend for the most part. Not sure what else we will get up to...maybe the boat trip we didnt get to go on the last time...

Anyhoo, bed time me thinks, have to be up early.....ish...to do things before I leave...and make sure I get to the station in time this time!!

Have a great weekend everyone, take care!

nuttyleehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16304826381041483260noreply@blogger.com41tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1486123519757653221.post-73688308516362385782007-09-04T16:11:00.000+01:002007-09-04T17:37:20.731+01:00My weekend Fun in WalesOn Friday night, around 6pm I got a phone call from a friend of mine Bart who lives in Cardiff, Wales. He was on his way home from work and was just calling to say hello. Around 7pm, after he had been home and done some things, we talked again. We were talking about the weekend ahead and ho we both had no plans, then out of the blue we both decided it would be a good idea for me to go to Cardiff for the weekend to visit him. We both checked ticket prices, saw how cheap they were and within 20 minutes had bought a bus ticket leaving at 9:30pm from London and arriving at 12:20am in Cardiff.

After that, it was a mad rush to unpack my little bag, repack it, shower and get all the way to Victoria Station by 9:15pm. I left home around 8:10pm, thinking I would have plenty of time as I could catch a train straight to Victoria from the Station here in Lewisham. But.....when I got to Lewisham Station, realised there are no trains to Victoria at that time of night. So had to take a big detour to a different station, get on the tube, change lines and eventually got to Victoria at about 9:10pm. I knew that the walk to the Coach Station would be about 10 minutes so I was stressing that I would miss this bus. But, in the end I arrived there, got on the bus and 5 minutes later, we left. Very close call!!

Bus trip wasnt that bad, just listened to music and had the occasional phone call form Bart to see where we were and how the trip was going. Due to traffic along the way, we were delayed about 30 minutes and arrived at Cardiff Central Station at around 12:50pm. Caught a taxi back to Bart's place and chilled out there, watching tv and talking til around 5am!!

On Saturday, we only woke up around 12pm, got dressed and everything and headed out to Cardiff Bay. Bart works right there overlooking the bay, so he parked the car at the office and then we set off to see the sights.

We caught a boat from the Bay which takes u to the city along the river Taff (I think). Once we got to the city, we just walked around, looked in a few interesting shops and just talked. Eventually had lunch at Burger King and watched all the crazy Welsh youngsters out and about. They were all dressed in funny things, as part of organised parties and stuff. Very strange lot!

After all that, it was pretty late and we headed back to the Bay to fetch the car and then headed home. Watched TV again, talked most of the night and again, only got to sleep late, around 4:30am.

On Sunday, we decided we were going to go on another boat trip, this time, it took u out to an island. It was a real miserable, overcast and cold day, but we were keen to do it anyway. But when we arrived, we had missed the last boat and all the others had been prebooked, so that plan was out the window. We then went on "The Giant Wheel" and took some nice pics of the view from the top of the Bay. It moved pretty quick so didnt have too much time to take that many pictures. But here are some of them...

After we got off the wheel, we caught a bus into the city and went to the Cardiff Castle. This castle is like 2000 years old. Pretty amazing!

We arrived there too late for a guided tour, but we just walked aorund in the rain for a while by ourselves. Amazing place it was. My camera batteries died as soon as we got inside but managed to take one picture of "The Keep" . This was inside grounds of the castle and is a 12th century Norman Keep.

We went right up to the top of it, just below where the flag is and looked at the view of the city, pretty spectacular, but couldnt take any pics coz of flat camera!! Will have to go back to the castle next time. We fed some peacock in the grounds and then headed out as it started raining harder and we were already pretty wet. Headed back on the bus to the Bay, got the car and headed home. I was supposed to go back with the bus that night, but Bart said he would get me back on a train rather in the morning before he goes to work. Again, at home, just watched some TV, talked and then went to bed early, well earlier than the other 2 nights...around 2am.

On Monday, woke up at 9am, got dressed and packed up and made our way to the station. Got on the train at 11am, after it being delayed for 20 mins, and eventually arrived back in London around 1:30pm, got on a bus, and took forever to get home due to very bad traffic in London.

Had an amazing time, was a nice break and had great company. Totally took my mind off things and I feel a while lot better now, except...I now have a cold!! LOL!

nuttyleehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16304826381041483260noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1486123519757653221.post-20395607342526070852007-08-15T13:14:00.001+01:002007-08-15T13:28:54.249+01:00Injury time..Well, from great news to not so good news.

Have a sprained ankle, spent about 4 hours in total at the Accident and Emergency (A&E) unit at the hospital. First waiting about an hour and a half to be seen, then sent for xrays as they thought there could possibly be a fracture, which they saw on the xray, but then later said it wasnt, then had to wait to be re-seen and finally had to wait 30 mins for a cab to take me home. Been told to rest this week, so therefore I cannot go in to work, as all my job involves is walking up and down streets doing door to door sales.

The other thing that has come to my attention is the fact that, after working a full 12 hour day on Monday with the company, realised exactly how it isnt the ideal starting job for me. Because pay is based on commission, there r gonna be days where you will work 12 hours and not earn anything because that day, no one bought any packages. This could happen for a day, 2 days or even 3 days...and u wouldnt get anything from it, rather all you would be doing is spending more as you have to pay your own travel and lunch and dinner expenses. We get sent out all over london in the morning and we are there untill 8 or 9pm. Its a great job for someone who is settled and stuff, but as a starting job, not so good.

So, once again, will be looking for a new job, something that pays while i work, so I can at least start earning money while I work long hard hours.
Will keep everyone posted.

Have a good week!!nuttyleehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16304826381041483260noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1486123519757653221.post-36356872134949408772007-08-11T21:48:00.000+01:002007-08-11T22:13:42.943+01:00Officially has a job...AWESOME NEWS!! I start work on Monday!!!

Got called in for an interview on Friday for an Advertising company. They deal with sport/entertainment based direct advertising and have recently just opened in London. basically its a entry level management training program. There are 4 phases. 1. Distrubutor-just door to door sales and marketing 2. Leadership-training others as well as door to door sales/marketing and building ur own team 3 Assistant Manager 4. Manager. Each phase takes a certain time period to get through and in each there are specific criteria that one has to meet in order to get promoted. The more effort u put in, the faster u will move through the program and reach management. That is exactly what they are looking for, managers...as they are expanding and opening various offices and they need managers to run them. They take on big clients and make those clients a heck of a lot of money!!

So anyway...I had a great interview on friday and was called back for a second interview which i had all day today. Staring at 10 30am, was paired with Aidan, who is in the leadership phase of the Program and Mark who has just been promoted to Leadership from distribution. Spent the whole day with them out in the field, doing door to door sales for Sky Television (One of the companies big clients). Was a great day and had alot of fun. Getting to chat to strangers and just have a conversation, or sometimes, like what happened twice today, u get invited into their home for some tea or lunch. Its really great. Got back to the office around 7 30pm!! Had to fill in a short questionairre to test how much i had payed attention to and how much i learnt. After that, had a final interview and was offered the job right there. I start on Monday.

For now, salary is based on commision and bonuses. As u move throught the phases, of course pay increases as u have more responsibilities. Had an awesome day with Aiden, he a great guy and is so motivated to work, was assigned to his team now, so it is going to be awesome!! i cannot wait!!!

Have to be there 9 30am Monday morning to sort out the paperwork and once that is done, ready for the 3 days of training to get myself started with the sales. Work hours are npredictable, depending on how things go and what area we are sent to for the day, etc. But generally they say like 9 or 10am till 9 or 10pm......so very long hours on ur feet. But from the way it went today, very well worth it. Great people, lots of enthusiasm and fun in the office, everyone high fiving each other b4 they go out and when they get back, loud music playing in the mornings to get everyone pumped up to go out and do their thing. And the company backs everyone up very much, really invest in you. The more u put in, the faster u will get thru the program and start earning the big bucks as a manager in ur own office.

Gonna go rest now, so overwhelmed and tired from the last 2 days. Will write again soon.

Love to my friends and family.

XOXOXO

Am really excited and cannot wait to start.nuttyleehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16304826381041483260noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1486123519757653221.post-9446532194621933072007-08-05T16:24:00.000+01:002007-08-05T16:53:08.020+01:00Not too much News...

Been a while since I had something to say again. The weather has improved drastically here, this weekend in particular is very hot!! Dying without my fan or aircon!!! Cannot wait for the winter!!

Not been up to too much. Had another interview last week, but I didnt get the job. Joined the leisure centre down the road so gonna be visiting there alot, plan to do lots of swimming. Been spending alot of time with my friend Mark, as well as with some other guys Iv met. Going pubbing, etc. Otherwise, spend my other time during the week searching and applying for jobs.

Played softball again last Thursday after not having played for 2 weeks. Was a great game and we gave the other side a whooping! Next week is our last game of the season and we are on top of the Log at the moment, so we just need to win this last game to seal it. Muppets will win the league and be put back into the First Division next season. Looking forward to that!!

Miss my family back home very much, miss the company and support and all the laughs. Been here a month already and there have been some good days, some really great days but also some really really bad days where I question why I gave up the comforts of home to come here, but I have some friends here who talk me through it and help get my head back in the right place. If I didnt think I could do it here, I wouldnt have left in the first place. So I just keep plodding on, knowing that when i least expect it, I'll get the break I need and things will get better.

Otherwise, not much else to say.

Going to have yet another shower now because it is just too hot!!

Will write again soon. Take care!

XOXOX

nuttyleehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16304826381041483260noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1486123519757653221.post-20034772587408048972007-07-23T15:43:00.000+01:002007-07-23T16:05:14.548+01:00Busy Busy BusyBeen a busy last few days...watched the New Harry Potter, had an interview and saw Keane in concert...

On Thursday, i met up with a friend in East London and he took me around the Museum of Childhood. They have all the toys from all the ages there, going back hundreds of years. Was very interesting.

On Friday, I had a short interview at a hotel in London for a part time fitness instructor position at the hotels fitness centre. There were quite alot of applicants, and will be finding out this week whether I got it or not. Am holding thumbs. I know a guy who runs the football leagues at a Leisure centre in North London and we have been in contact, he says they are opening a new centre in the next few weeks and has send my CV off to the manager. He has also spoken about getting a kids softbal league going in the summer for the kids as currently they have no program like that, and recently he told me that the sports development council approved that, so will see where that goes as well. If that works out, it will be awesome.

On Saturday night, went to see Keane in concert at the O2 centre in North Greenwich with Janine and Michael. The evening didnt start well at all, but by the time Keane came on stage, everything had been sorted out and we were all able to enjoy the gig. It was great!!! After that, we went to Spur!! They have a Spur and a Nandos right next to each other, was great to see. The place is pretty much the same, altho the menu is fairly different. They dont have the famous spur rib burger or the chicken snitchels(spelling), but it was ok. janine and I had steak and Michael had ribs. Was very yummy.

Apart from that, didnt get up to much else over the weekend, finally got my bank card so am all sorted now with my accounts. Just have to get money into it asap! Took out a mobile phone contract bcoz pay as you go is expensive, so will be getting that tomoro and will have to let you all know my new number again.

Off to get some food now, chat soon.

Love to my family and friends.

XOXOnuttyleehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16304826381041483260noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1486123519757653221.post-83517355694210549622007-07-18T03:21:00.001+01:002007-07-18T03:30:54.646+01:00Two new Pooh's

Was out and about yesterday with a friend, had a look around Hamleys and then went to the Disney store and walked out with 2 new Pooh's. Not much has been going on really. Cant belive its only 9 days since i left...it feels like I have been here for weeks. Experienced this feeling last time i was here on holiday and now again. Seem to lose track of everything here, maybe because it does feel like I am on a kinda holiday like last time. Im sure things will feel normal once I start working, cant wait!!

On the job side of things.....I received a call from LA Fitness on Tuesday and had a phone interview regarding a Fitness Intsructor position. Asked me questions regarding my experience in a gym as he could see from my CV i had sports and outdoor experience but none in a gym setting. He told me I was actually over qualified for the position as my sport science degree puts me at a REPS (Register of Exercise Professionals) level 3 and that position only requires a REPS level 2 qualification. The only problem with everything is my lack of experience in a gym setting. During the interview I was honest with him and told him even at University we didnt go into gym stuff tooooo much. Or if we did, i always opted to listen to the sport side of things anyway. He said he would pay for my training to get an exercise to music qualification as well as a spinning instructors qualification. All and all it went well and he did say he appreciated my honest answers to the questions he asked. He did say as well there were lost of applicants for that position in that gym and so he had lots of other calls to make. Waiting to hear how it went now. Either i will be called in for an interview at the gym or I wil receive a letter in the post saying i was unsuccessful.

On the softball side, we played again on tuesday night and won. This time not in the rain, but rather a nice sunny evening. Playing again next Thursday night.

Received my credit card in the mail yesterday which was quite scary really. Wasnt sure whether to actually activate it or not so talked to some friends online to get their advice about it and then called my mom to see what she said. I know i wouldnt go crazy and get myself in trouble with it, but wasnt sure if i should even bother having it. But i activated it anyway, as long as i use it once every 6 months it will stay open. One day im sure it will come in handy and in the mean time, at least i am building up a good credit record for myself.
My bank account was also opened at the same time so am just waiting for my debit card and then im all set with that.

As for any other plans I have, I am wanting to join the Ladywell Leisure centre so that i can at least work out and swim and do some exercise, apart from all the walking im doing while rushing about in london!!! Am still trying to enquire about doing a lifessaving course as i have always wanted to do one and there r plenty of lifeguard jobs here in fitness and leisure centres as well as more posh places like health spa's and I reckon it would be a very important qualification to have under my belt. Will keep everyone posted.

Alone this weekend as Janine has gone to Paris to visit Michael(her bf). Not sure of my plans for the weekend yet, will see what happens. Next week I have a few "dates" with friends. 2 r taking me to dinner and one to movies then the pub. Should be alot of fun, am looking forward to seeing them.

Going to go for a walk now to buy something to eat. Talk to you soon.

Love to my family and friends. Despite the inclement weather, the Muppets were fired up for this game, and despite trailing early on, the outcome was never in doubt. (Especially since the Breakers only had 9 players, but don't mention that to your friends when you are bragging about this game).

This game saw a new face in Leanne, who barely 24 hours previously was on the plane from South Africa. (That is serious softball dedication). In addition, the Muppets welcomed back hard-throwing Laura Brockman after a several-week long sabbatical.

MVP of this game had to be Terri who made several nice plays at 2nd, including gunning down a Breaker at the plate with a perfect throw. Also, her 2-out, 2-RBI single in the bottom of the fourth was absolutely clutch and really opened the floodgates for us.

Other strong performers:

Tom - another great game on the mound in difficult conditions

Laura - 2 for 4 at the plate and nice defense in left. Showed off her cannon of an arm on a close play at 2nd. (I though the guy was out, but what can you do.)

Mike - another strong performance at the plate going 3-4 with 3 runs scored.

Lisa - several important catches in right.

Leanne - fantastic hitting and great game behind the plate.

Penny - excellent support and drinking in the pub afterwards

Sorry if I missed anyone, but similar to last week, we had pretty much everyone contribute in one way or another. We are now tied for first with a record of 7-2, but have another important game next Tuesday against the OddSox who are in 3rd place at the moment. See you then!

They usually post something after everygame, so if you want to keep track of how things with the team are going, u can check out the blog with this link http://mightymuppets.com/blognuttyleehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16304826381041483260noreply@blogger.com1
